PULA FILM FESTIVAL is since 65 years one of the central film industry events in southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean. From the very beginning, it was a boost to the establishment of many companies, projects, authors, producers, distributors, actors, directors, other talents and the initiator of the film industry. AVVANTURA FESTIVAL & MATCHMAKING was the first film festival in Croatia since it´s launch 2010 to focus on European co-productions and the industry organizing 2010 a roundtable on the topic of setting a film destination and launching the first film office in Croatia. Under the patronage of Eurimages AMF collaborated among others on the programs of Torino Film Lab, co-organized "Kin Kong" the first International Independent Cinema Congress, held a Documentary Campus Master School, Organized "Scream" the first conference of genre film, presented EAVE program in Croatia, organized various training programs, panels, lectures and other events, and was partner of the Producers Network at the Marche du Film at Festival de Cannes.

AMF and PFF are creating in 2018 a unique Synergy with the new Industry program MATCHMAKING FORUM in Pula. The goal is networking, encouraging the strengthening of the film culture and industry. We believe in the power of Ideas that are today's most precious property, linking, matchmaking, the power of film and media inspires new synergies of ideas for artists, creatives, entrepreneurs and catalyzes change through networking and merging. Partners of the first Matchmakingforum in Pula are film centers from: Slovenia, Croatia, Fondacija za Kinematografiju Sarajevo, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Film Center SarajevoLithuania and Georgia. The first Matchmaking forum in Pula will consist of the following events:

A successful tourist, cultural and business environment in the ideal location of Central Europe, makes Pula an ideal location for the Matchmaking forum. In the frame of the 65. Pula Film Festival, the first edition of the Matchmaking forum especially focuses on the presentation and exchange of original film projects and emerging works of partner film centers in order to encourage their development and production. The idea of building networking capabilities of professionals involved in the production, not only cinema but the entire mode of the creative industry's visual sectors has its importance.  The Matchmaking forum provides producers the opportunity to meet with more categories of financiers that participate in the creation of the necessary financial package for the production of a film. Distributors, sales agents, banks, private and public investment funds, regions and film commissions, broadcasters, internet platforms and so on.

First edition 2018

The first edition of the Matchmaking forum will be held from 17 July 2018 to  20 July 2018. Circolo Italian Community in Pula. The Industry office will work throughout the entire 65. Pula Film Festival.

The first Matchmaking forum in Pula will consist of the following events:

The Co-Production Market at the Matchmaking forum in Pula is a platform to support European and regional producers to secure financing for their projects (mainly Fiction, Documentaries and TV Projects) through one-to-one meetings with potential and pertinent professionals (producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, broadcasters, and funds). All the invited professionals are decision-makers.

The MATCHMAKING FORUM in Pula is launching the Call for Projects for the first edition of the Co-Production Market, which will take place on July 18 to July 21, 2018,  during the 65. Pula Film Festival (July 14 – July 21, 2018). The call is open until 29th June 2018.

ONLY PROJECTS WITH 50% OF FINANCE IN-PLACE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR SUBMISSION !

This call is open to European and International projects for the following categories:

15 feature films, documentaries, animated and TV projects from Europe (focus on SEE, Lithuania, and Georgia) will be selected. There is no genre limitation. The 3-day event will present a total of 15 selected European projects.

The catalog detailing each film project will then be emailed to the registered professionals by the beginning of July 2018 to entitle them to request a 30-minute one-to-one meeting with the producers of the selected projects.

The MATCHMAKING FORUM Co-Production Market will set up these meetings in accordance with the availability of the participants and meetings slots. Each participant will receive a personalized meeting schedule a few days before the event.

PROJECT SUBMISSION DEADLINE PROLONGED TILL 29th JUNE 2018

Work in Progress at the Matchmaking Forum in Pula's purpose is to provide concrete assistance in the completion of films from Slovenia, Croatia, Fondacija za Kinematografiju Sarajevo, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Film Center SarajevoLithuania and Georgia; and to offer producers and directors an opportunity to present their films still in production to international film Industry delegates in order to facilitate post-production and promote co-production partnerships and market access.

The workshop consists in three days of activities, in which the working copies of a maximum of six selected films are presented to producers, buyers, distributors and film festival programmers. Networking, encounters, and meetings will allow directors and producers to interact directly with the workshop participants.

The workshop also includes screenings of the material of the selected films in the presence of the directors or producers. Only Industry pass holders will be allowed to attend the screenings: producers, distributors, operators, buyers, festival programmers, representatives of the institutions and others invited in advance by the Festival management. Screenings of the programu WORK IN PROGRESS will be organized at Kino Valli 18 i 19.07. during the 65. Pula Film Festivala.

This year a special one-to-one meetings session between the selected projects and the professionals attending the Matchmaking Forum will be organized on July 18th and 19th in the Circolo Matchmaking Forum area.

The workshop will conclude with the awarding of prizes, for the financial support of the films in their post-production phase:

Prizes and Awards will be announced on 5th July 2018. The winners of the award will be announced on 20 July 2018 on the closing of the Matchmaking forum.

The prizes will be awarded by final and irrevocable decision on the part of the Matchmaking Forum Director, in conjunction with the project partners, the heads of the institutions, and the service companies providing the awarded prizes.

For this first edition, the Matching Stories and Film at the Matchmaking forum in Pula will offer in cooperation with the book fair "Sanjam knjige" to publishers and publishing houses a dedicated area within the Matchmaking forum, that with this event renew its vocation to foster the development and production of international and European projects across a range of audio-visual forms.

A public pitch presentation done by each publisher will be organized the first day and during the two following days, one-to-one meetings between those publishers and producers will be set up thus allowing them to foster long relationships and of course to make deals around the adaptations of novels, drama, children, short story, comic, graphic novel, essay, biography.

A brochure gathering the publishers and their new titles, as well as their catalogue, will be sent to all registered producers beforehand.

This event is giving the publishers and the producers a unique opportunity of getting to know each other and thus to build a long-term relationship.
